Words of Condolence
A Poem for GAA
Journey of Hearts

From the e-mail files came this
On May 18th my most cherished
friend in the world passed away--my Grandmother, Elizabeth. All my life
she was there for me unconditionally, and her final years were sad and
torturously confusing for her, she suffered from dementia. I searched and
searched for a poem to suit her passing, but couldn't find any. Then my
girlfriend brought me a beautiful gift, it was mywords and thoughts she
had sculpted into a poem for me.
A Poem for GAA (grandma)
by Shelly Belknap
I would like to share that gift
with anyone who would like it.
Since I've known you,
I've respected you,
Since I've respected you,
I've loved you.
Because you are gone,
I will now love your spirit.
Your voice speaking to me as
forever rings through my soul.
Seeing you so tired, I asked
you to go.
I never thought you would listen
You always had a mind of your
but now I am happy because you
are at peace.
It makes my heart soar to think
you could be dancing with grandpa,
dancing in the stars.
Thank you grandma for caring
Thank you grandma for listening
I will cherish you forever,
and you will always live in
One of my favorite quotes that
comes to mind:
